The Emergency Department (ED) provides patients with a high level of care when they need it most. Designed to handle almost every type of emergent and critical care situation, the ED treats nearly 60,000 patients a year. The facility is equipped with 40 acute care beds, all with state-of-the-art bedside monitoring equipment. An on-site helipad provides rapid transfer of patients with life-threatening conditions.
The ED is a Certified Primary Stroke Center and SGMC has the only open heart surgery program in the region. The Stroke Team and Heart and Vascular Team are always available to treat life-threatening cardiac emergencies.

Donalsonville Hospital is located in the Southwest portion of Georgia, 9 miles from Florida and 12 miles from Alabama. Donalsonville is an acute care facility set in a rural community. The hospital services the general population of Donalsonville. Trauma patients are sent to either Alabama or Florida. The hospital was recently selected as one of the top 100 hospitals in the United States.
