Qualifications For MLP’S

•   Must develop or maintain qualifications through ongoing emergency medicine training and CME course
•   Minimum 1 year experience working full-time as a Physician Assistant

The Emergency Department (ED) provides patients with a high level of care when they need it most. Designed to handle almost every type of emergent and critical care situation, the ED treats nearly 60,000 patients a year. The facility is equipped with 40 acute care beds, all with state-of-the-art bedside monitoring equipment. An on-site helipad provides rapid transfer of patients with life-threatening conditions.

The ED is a Certified Primary Stroke Center and SGMC has the only open heart surgery program in the region. The Stroke Team and Heart and Vascular Team are always available to treat life-threatening cardiac emergencies.

Additional Fun Facts

The area now known as Logansport was originally inhabited by Native Americans. It was named after James Renich Logan, a Shawnee soldier who served the U.S. forces as a scout in the War of 1812. The area was first settled by Europeans in 1826, and the Wabash and Erie Canal reached the city in 1837. The historic Michigan Road that runs through the town significantly improved communication and led to population growth as well. Logansport was incorporated in 1938.
